Laniarius atrococcineus
Internal frame size: 15cm x 15cm
Stitch count: 69 x 61 cross stitches
These birds are distinctive with their bright red and black colouring and are common breeding residents in the thornbush and semi-arid scrub of the dry interior. They are usually found in singly or in pairs, nests are made in the forks of thorn trees. Seldom stationary for long, they forage for insects on the ground or in the rough bark of trees and are fairly vocal, more often heard than seen.
